East Coast Rounders

Played in the Hilton's $40+10 last Friday night. What a mess... I've never played a tournament where blinds and antes increase so quickly.

15 minute blinds - 15k starting stack - antes starting at the third level.

Antes are what really killed it: $25 for level 3... level six is already at $300 with $500/$1000 blinds. Unreal how quickly it escalated. Plus, the dealers aren't exactly speed demons, so you'd be lucky to see the button move half way around the table before the level changed.

We had 79 players. I got knocked out around 20th or so. Had 6 7s with only 3x the blind infront of me, and was UTG. Moved all in, got called by K 10, and he flopped a straight.

It just wasn't an exciting tournament... 15 minute blinds is just way too fast. It becomes a game of luck more than anything. I'd rather pay the house a $20 fee to run a $50 deep stack, one hour blind kind of tournament.

I might opt for the Taj midnight instead, as they go ante free from what I remember. Either way, it was my first tourney I played in a long time... I'll stick to my cash games.

No doubt that the structure sucks. I only play in this when I am with the Mrs. She likes the Hilton for some reason. While she is downstairs in the casino I play to kill time.

I liked the Hilton tournaments and was disappointed to hear the no longer have them. It was a low buy in and they had a nice group of players.
