East Coast Rounders

Tom Dwyer

What's the BEST tourney going in Atlantic City (PLAYING WISE, no re-buys.. nice blinds, no or low anties) I need to PLAY some LIVE POKER.

Is there such a BEAST in Atlantic City these days - If so - WHERE?

say $160 - $500.00 buy in range.

Also - DO they ALWAYS GET ENOUGH PLAYERS TO RUN THEM...

Not sure about the higher buy-ins, but I've found the Bally's twice a day $40+10 tourney to be well run with just the right ratio of good players to donkeys to make it interesting...no antes either. What I don't like is that the casino personnel put pressure on the final table participants to cut a deal, plus the last few tables are out near the bar where the smokers congregate, which is VERY unpleasant.

The Showboat also has two daily $50+15 tourneys which don't have antes either. Never made the final table there, so not sure about whether they pressure you to chop.

Caesar's has a 3 PM daily which I think has a higher buy-in ($100+). Played in it once, and got knocked out early by an A-rag donk card catcher.

The old Sands had the best tourneys...really miss it.

I`d have to say the tournaments at the Showboat are pretty good. On a Friday or Saturday night you can get between 80 - 100 players, no antes, pretty good dealers, plenty of waitresses, run fairly well, all in a decent room. Just my opinion...............

I was just there last week (Bally's), and while there's no smoking in the poker room, they have a half-dozen tables out where the Keno pit used to be....right next to the bar which is the only place in the whole poker/ponies room where you can smoke. So there were always a dozen or so puffers blowing smoke every whichaway.

So, here's the deal with the smoking ban. You can smoke in the casino but it is gonna be a designated room for smokers (on the casino floor but w/out ANY slots or table games). This just went into effect on the 18th of Oct.

I gotta say I really like the Taj midnight as well. Usually around 100 players - 20 minute levels, no antes. But then again, anyone on here knows I'm a big fan of the Taj, so I suppose it might be biased ;)

HAs there been any NEGATIVE effects that have come from the smoking ban? Just curious as a POLITE smoker. Planning on Hitting AC in March for the WSOP circuit at ceasars. WE NEED POKER IN THE PA CASINOS (4 hours to AC and 6 to NY / canada..... at least gas is under 2 bucks a gallon). I mean are the casinos more full or less full now that the ban is running. I remember Trump saying it as going to KILL AC and was "trying" to get the cooperation of the other casinos to keep smoking on the floor in some fashion.
