East Coast Rounders

...a Royal Flush is worth $500 plus!

I'm dealt QT Spades two seats to the right of the button. I call on a 1-2 NL table. The button raises $5 and I call. The flop is JKA...all spades. I check. Button checks. 2c hits the deck. I think, look from the flop to the Button numerous times and bet $20. Button calls. Kc on the river. I do the same routine, project nervousness to call, and throw out $10. Button calls and says "I hit on the flop!" He throws out 92 Spades. I say, " So did I!" I show the Royal Flush!
The player next to me says I just got paid $500.

The action stops. The dealer says not to touch the board, calls the floor and starts to sort the muck into suits. Diamonds Hearts Clubs in that order. Then he pushes the spades next to the open board. He then spreads the three suits to the Floor Manager, sets them aside, then spreads the spades. The FM leaves, comes back, and whispers to the dealer that surveillance is reviewing the video. Play continues with a new deck, I'm dealt AJu and win another nice pot with JJ, A kicker to a T kicker. Suddenly, Im on a mini rush! 15 minutes later and about $175 up, the FM returns with 5 $100 bills and pays me on the felt. I muck my hand and walk with house money and blood money. Nice.

could have made a little more with a chaser $5 bet after the flop button most likely would have raised then go HOLLYWOOD no fault playing the way ya did but could have made a lil more CONGRATS may the poker gods be with us all

Good point on the chaser bet and the button could have raised. A lot of tables there resembled fish tanks. I couldn't believe how many there were in that room. Good place to make cash withdrawals with solid play! :)

Fred,
Many thanks for your work! I'm always learning and enjoying ECR and ACPG. I'm doing trips down to Tampa deciding on new homes. In the mean time, I'm still in the DC area until things are final. I'll give the official word when I'm finally in the Tampa Bay area. I just might run up to AC over the holidays!

Hey Mirage......nice to see you hit the Hard Rock good. I had a nice winning session of about $700 there when NL first started in FL. Almost every other time I go there I get cold-decked and coolered. I grew up in Hollywood too but now live near Ft. Pierce so mostly play the local card room up here (Ft. Pierce Jai Lai). I do like the play better at Hard Rock as it does get crazier and theres usually good action, but of course you also have to have your hand hold up on more occassions.

I might be visiting south this weekend, so if you're in town playing there maybe we can have a beer/soda or something. I also play at Mardi Gras sometimes as that is on the east side where my parents live and they are open 24- hours. The games are a little tighter, but sometimes that is good as you can read the hands better.

Dude, I could not believe the maniacs trying to steal there. It was totally sick.

I'm still in DC for a short while, going down to Tampa from Dec 5-14, then back to DC. I'll get my house sold, then get back to Tampa for good. Tampa Bay dog/horse tracks and Hard Rock Tampa will be my permanent battlefield. I have a lot of Friends in FtL and Hollywood so I could be running down from time to time...and I will be at the tables. So when I do come down there or Ft Pierce, I'll fire a warning shot so we can hook up.....as long as there is poker and Mojitos involved, I'm there! :)

well......there will probably be no reason for you to be in Ft. Pierce, so most likely Hollywood....or I'll give you a shout out if I visit friends in the Tampa area.

Happy New Year to all.

The most important thing to remember about this article is the processing for mini jackpots and bad beats. This is why players should not be running at the mouth when seated during the possibilities. The house can void any payoff for a number of reasons. Hard Rock at Hollywood and Tampa need to tighten up on the table rules. When I found out they were going to look at the cameras, the first thing I thought of was that a "girlfriend" of the player, two seats to my right, had pulled a chair up almost parallel to the players. That could have been a show stopper. When a pair is shown on the board, there should never be discussion of the possibilities of the bad beat, that could be a showstopper. Small talk can kill the payoff. It emphasizes the fact that one should play their hand and watch the extracurricular talk. Sometimes we get relaxed, have a good time with table talk, and it spills over to hands being played. Its great to talk about them after the fact, not during. AT HRC, I saw bets made and then allowed, by the dealer, to be puilled back because they did not hear the raise! B#!!$#^! That becomes a liability. If that bet hits the table, it stays. I saw so many players fold or bet out of turn. The dealer has to control that! I'm not very happy with the Rules of Engagement at both properties. Its too lax, and could cost us money!
