East Coast Rounders

I just got back from the ACPG tourney at Ballys. OK I do not know if I played this bad or not. I keep running it over and over.

Blinds 500-1k
Antes 200
9 people at table
I am on Small Blind. (500) Chip Stack very low 7,800

Under the gun calls, and (Hero) late position calls. I look down at 5-6 off. There is 5300 in pot. I call 500. Big blind checks his option.
Flop= 965 I check table checks behind.
Turn= A I push all in knowing someone had to get in with an (A) and they will call my all in.

BB folds, Middle folds. (Hero) Late position Calls with A-Q
River =9
He wins with top two.

OK I knew I had the best hand on the flop. Even though there is a str8ght draw on board I check hoping one of the 3 people bet so that I can re-raise all in. My thinking is if I go all in on flop I win a 4,800 profit but I am still left low stack with about 2 orbits to get lucky again. If I check raise I double up and I have survival money to be a little patient. Well as u see for getting greedy I risked it all and ended up with bad beat. I don’t blame hero for his call. He had top pair with top kicker. He had 8 outs to beat my two pair and he hit. Did I play this wrong?

I would have to agree with Eric here. i would push after the flop. You are in early postion and will get a caller, if not then you take the pot and increase your stack and are now in position with the button and chance to increase your stack further.

i think checking postflop hurt, Im a firm believer that in a tourney esp short stacked you should push a big bet. with 2 pair, chances are you'll get a big stack to call because they like there odds against you, "little to lose" . then wen you push another big bet on the turn chances are he puts you on A with big kicker and folds. But mabey not Just a bad beat any way you look at it.
